This December the FOCUS challenge is going to the heart of West Africa as we cycle across the colourful villages and scenic cliff tops of Sub-Saharan Mali. In five days, we will cover a distance of approximately 400 km and visit a number of AKDN projects along the way including the magnificent Great Mosque of Mopti recently restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
The route is predominantly asphalt roads and low to medium gradient bike trails. Bicycles and basic camping accommodation will be provided.
For an experience of a lifetime, have a look at the proposed itinerary and come and join us for the ride!
About Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS)
Focus Humanitarian Assistance is an international group of agencies established in Europe, North America and South Asia to complement the provision of emergency relief, principally in the developing world. It helps people in need reduce their dependence on humanitarian aid and facilitates their transition to sustainable, long term development.
FOCUS is an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network (www.akdn.org). Underlying the establishment of FOCUS by the Ismaili Muslim community is a history of successful initiatives to assist people struck by natural and man-made disasters in South and Central Asia, and Africa.

Past FOCUS Challenges
FOCUS began organising fundraising challenge events in 2002. Over the years, hundreds of men and women, of all ages, have cycled or hiked thousands of kilometres, helping us to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the work of FOCUS around the world. The following galleries are testament to the dedication and determination of these individuals.
