Awareness Voluntary Organization (DSW-3100-K) a not for profit organization (Educating Communities & Empowering Volunteerism) had conducteda Free Awareness Lecture on ‘Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Sexual Reproductive Health Education Programs’on 25th of September,2012 from 9.30 am to 12.00 am at class room number 6, Aga khan School of Nursing, Aga Khan University Hospital,Karachi.
The challenges to Sexual Reproductive Health faced by Persons with Disabilities in Pakistan are not necessarily part of having a disability, but instead often reflect lack of social attention, legal protection, understanding and support. Persons with disabilities often cannot obtain even the most basic information about Sexual Reproductive Health Sexual Reproductive Health. Thus they remain ignorant of basic facts about themselves their bodies.
This lecture was conducted to involve & appraise the stake-holders, humanitarian actors, health sectors working in Pakistan of the discreet situation Persons with Disabilities face due to exclusion from ‘Sexual Reproductive Health Education Programs’.
Dr Keith CashDean and Professor School of Nursing and Midwifery, Aga Khan University & Hospital Pakistan was the chief guest along with Dr Fauziya Ali Director School of Nursing as the honoured guest.
Dr Nighat Shakeel SRH Expert, Mr Shakeel Ahmed Khan Training Consultant from Compass Pakistan & Mr Noorudin.S.Bhamani (Rights Activist of Children & Persons with Disabilities) & President Awareness Voluntary Organization conducted the session.
