University of Central Asia: Creating Opportunity on the Roof of the World — Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, gave a talk in London about the role of the University

On Friday 20th May 2016, ahead of the launch of the first undergraduate campus in the Kyrgyz Republic in September, Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, Executive Chairman, UCA Board Executive Committee, gave a talk in London Ismaili Centre  about the role the University is playing in Central Asia’s current and future development.
Shamsh spoke about how UCA is responding to some of the region’s pressing challenges by encouraging investment in the region, developing it’s future leaders, and creating new opportunities for its mountainous communities.
The talk also highlighted UCA’s current impact, especially though its School of Professional & Continuing Education which has already provided skills training to over 85,000 students since it opened in 2006.
Gulnara Kasmambetova, Senior Producer for BBC Kyrgyz, then presented a feature piece produced by the BBC about UCA and led a discussion with Shamsh.
