Generationenwechsel an Spitze von CDU-Wirtschaftsflügel

Die Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsvereinigung der CDU/CSU hat sich personell neu aufgestellt und dabei einen Generationenwechsel vollzogen.
Auf der 11. Bundesdelegiertenversammlung der MIT in Braunschweig wurde mit Dr. Carsten Linnemann ein neue Führungsspitze gewählt. Der 36-jährige Abgeordnete des Deutschen Bundestages aus Paderborn tritt die Nachfolge von Dr. Josef Schlar-mann (73) als MIT-Bundesvorsitzender an. Dr. Schlarmann führte den Wirtschaftsflügel der Union seit 2005 und hatte nicht erneut kandidiert.
Als stellvertretende MIT-Bundesvorsitzende wählte die Bundesdelegiertenver-sammlung: Dieter Bischoff, Dr. Rolf Koschorrek, Patricia Lips MdB, Dr. h.c. Hans Michelbach MdB, Dorin Müthel-Brenncke und Jürgen Presser.
Hermann Hesse (59) wurde zum Bundesschatzmeister der MIT gewählt. Der Unternehmer aus Lingen (Niedersachsen) folgt auf Peter Jungen (74), der das Amt seit 1997 inne hatte.
Als Beisitzer im MIT-Bundesvorstand wählten die Delegierten des mit 40.000 Mit-gliedern und Sympathisanten stärksten mittelstandspolitischen Verbands in Deutschland: Gerald Aßmann, Rolf Buttkus, Michael Darda, Marie-Luise Dött, Heinz-Josef Drießen, Heiko Eibenstein, Peter Erl, Norbert Eyck, Dr. Albrecht Geier, Peter Götz, Dr. Matthias Heider, Judith Helfmann-Hundack, Helena Kapp, Bernhard Kösslinger, Jochen Leinert, Benno Lensdorf, Wolfgang Leyendecker, Michael Littig, Werner Lübbe, Peter Luths, Norbert Müller, David Novak, Helmut Nowak, Michael Piepenschneider, Dr. Harald Pohlmann, Margarete Reiser, Günter Reisner, Marco Reuter, Volker Rode, Thomas Schmatz, Eva-Maria Sieringhaus, Philipp Steinwärder, Horst Tarnawski, Bernd Wegner

Fact and figures about the EU´s Small and Medium Enterprise (SME)
Following the daily news, it is easy to get the impression that the European economy is dominated by large, multinational enterprises. Their multi-billion Euro takeovers, global expansion plans or -more recently- risks of mega bankruptcies dominate the headlines.
What usually gets lost is that more than 99% of all European businesses are, in fact, SMEs (see definition of SMEs). They provide two out of three of the private sector jobs and contribute to more than half of the total value-added created by businesses in the EU. Moreover, SMEs are the true back-bone of the European economy, being primarily responsible for wealth and economic growth, next to their key role in innovation and R&D.
What is even more intriguing is that nine out of ten SMEs are actually micro enterprises with less than 10 employees. Hence, the mainstays of Europe’s economy are micro firms, each providing work for two persons, in average. This is probably one of the EU’s best kept secrets!
The SME Performance Review (SPR) is the key instrument employed by the European Commission to document the important role of SMEs and to study the further development of this sector. It has two components: a European annual report and a set of country fact sheets.

The SPR is the continuation of the work done by the “Observatory of European SMEs“.
